Childcare health & safety policies, Tuart Hill

Safe, healthy and happy.

We take your child's health and safety seriously at both of our centres. Here's how we keep children well, and what we ask of families.

Signing in & collection

Every child is signed in and out each day on our iPad kiosk, by a person listed on your enrolment form.

If someone else is collecting your child, give us written consent first. We'll check their photo ID before your child goes home with them.

Sun safety

We're a SunSmart centre. In the warmer months every child wears a hat and SPF 50+ sunscreen outdoors.

No hat, no play, but we keep spare hats if one gets left at home. There's no outdoor play between 10am and 3pm when the temperature is over 32°C.

Illness & exclusion

To protect every child and educator, please keep your child home when they're unwell.

This includes infectious conditions such as gastroenteritis, conjunctivitis, measles, chickenpox, impetigo and ringworm. Children can return once the infectious period is over, with a doctor's certificate.

Medication

We can only give medication with your written consent. Ask your child's educator, or the front desk at School Care, for the form.

Medication must be clearly labelled and in date, and handed to a staff member on arrival so we can store it safely out of children's reach.

Immunisation

We encourage every family to keep immunisations up to date. To receive the Child Care Subsidy, your child must be immunised, or have an exemption from a medical practitioner.

Bring your child's immunisation history statement from myGov when you enrol.

Meals, allergies & diets

Our weekly menu is on the parent noticeboard. Tell us about allergies, dietary needs or food preferences before your child starts, and list them on the enrolment form.

Long Day Care: morning tea 9:30am, lunch 11:00am, afternoon tea 3:00pm, late snack 5:00pm.
School Care: breakfast before school; fruit and a snack after school.

Emergencies

In a medical emergency we call for help first, then contact you straight away. Children are taken to Perth Children's Hospital.

Our educators hold current first aid qualifications. [Confirm: first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis training.]

Birthdays & special days

Celebrating a birthday or a cultural day? Let your child's educator know, and we'll help make it special. Ask us about the ways we celebrate.

Our full policies are in the family handbook and available at both centres. Ask us any time.

Health & safety questions

Common questions about keeping children safe and well at our Tuart Hill centres.

Is Tuart Hill Baby & Childcare a SunSmart centre?

Yes. Children wear a hat and SPF 50+ sunscreen outdoors in warmer months, and we avoid outdoor play between 10am and 3pm when it's over 32°C.

When does my child need to stay home from childcare?

Whenever they're unwell, and for infectious conditions such as gastro, conjunctivitis, chickenpox or impetigo until the infectious period is over and you have a doctor's certificate.

Can you cater for my child's allergy?

Yes. Tell us before your child starts and record it on the enrolment form, and our cooks will plan around it. [Confirm allergy management plan and nut policy.]

Does my child need to be immunised to attend?

Immunisation must be up to date, or a medical exemption provided, for families to receive the Child Care Subsidy.

Who can pick up my child?

Only people listed on your enrolment form, or someone you've given us written consent for, who will need to show photo ID.
