Apply through myGov
Lodge your claim with Centrelink through myGov before your child starts, so the subsidy applies from day one.

The government pays the subsidy straight to the centre, and we take it off your fees.

How many absence days are covered?
The Child Care Subsidy covers up to 42 absence days for each child per financial year, for any reason, including holidays, casual days off and sickness.
What happens after 42 days?
The subsidy may keep paying for some absences, such as illness with a medical certificate, shared care arrangements or a local emergency. Services Australia sets the rules, and we can help you check.
Will I know how many days I've used?
Yes. The number of absence days used is shown on your account statement.
